At a chilly and windy Santa Maria City Classic, the varsity track teams from host Righetti prevail. Track athletes from Orcutt Academy, Pioneer Valley, Righetti, Santa Maria, and St. Joseph competed in the Santa Maria City Classic on Tuesday despite chilly temperatures in the 50s and a severely cold 13 mph wind. The varsity teams from Righetti won their respective city titles in an afternoon meet that lasted deep into the evening at Warrior Stadium. The Righetti girls won with 110 points to second place Orcutt Academy’s 84, while the Righetti boys won with 166 points to Pioneer Valley’s 70. With 52 points, the Santa Maria lads came in third place. Orcutt Academy (31) and St. Joseph (36) came next. With 69 points, the Pioneer Valley girls came in third place. Saint. Joseph (15) and Santa Maria (53) came next.
