On a breezy Monday afternoon, Righetti High School played Nipomo High School. Righetti was playing at home in the first game of a two-game series against Nipomo. Righetti was able to hold Nipomo to a fat donut by scoring one run in the first inning, one in each of the following innings: second, third, fourth, and fifth. Righetti High School was able to score 4 more runs after taking an early lead, bringing the final score to 9-0 with Nipomo trailing by none. Nipomo was in no position to win this game as the sixth inning approached. Nipomo High School was held to zero the entire game thanks to Righetti’s ability to apply the mercy rule.
