SKIRTS! Back on the Trend

Kae Lajorda, Writer

The knowledge that skirts have at last peaked in this modern period makes my inner child jump for delight.

Y2K Mini Skirts

Y2K’s spin on mini skirts hasn’t changed much from the ones Paris Hilton and Christina Aguilera sported back in the day. Denim minis were particularly popular, though Y2K fashion has re-introduced alternative fabrics like leather and mesh.

Denim Midi

The recent midi-skirt craze your sweet relief. Fashion trends are often born out of what is aesthetic rather than what is practical, however, fashion is at its best when it can merge the two. Midi skirts definitely find that common ground; they protect your legs from the air and sun and enable you to sit down without triple checking your surroundings. Plus, they help elongate the look of your legs and add a bit of formality to your ‘fit.

Lolita Skirts

Wearing Lolita is not a form of ‘cosplay’ (costume play) – the act of dressing up as anime or manga characters – but an emphatic statement, or even a whole way of life, that expresses the identity of its devotees.

Maxi Skirts

The  Maxi skirt looks just as good as your favorite jeans and pants without feeling as restricting and stiff. Because unlike miniskirts, you don’t have to worry about showcasing your underwear for the world to see. A good maxi skirt provides the coverage of a pair of pants with the flow and ease of a dress. Talk about range.

Plaid Skirts

Plaid Skirts are incredibly versatile depending on the style, you can wear a plaid skirt with boots, flats, or even heels for a night out. Plus, a plaid skirt can seamlessly transition from day to night.
