This Labor Day weekend, I was camping at the Sequoia National Parks RV Resort. The temperature was amazing and the scenery was beyond beautiful. We spent most of our time just hanging out with our friends around the campgrounds, but right below the sites was a very nice and cool stream of water to relax in. In the stream, we tied up all of the rafts together to make one big floating island for everyone to chill on. The water was almost a perfect temperature for what the weather outside was. Some of the kids even went floating as far down the river as they could.
On Sunday, we went to the Sequoia trails to hike and see the forest. The trees there were the biggest I have ever seen. Everywhere you looked was absolutely stunning. There were waterfalls, flowers, squirrels, and so many more interesting aspects of nature on our walk. I would highly recommend doing that hike, but come prepared in the right clothes and with a lot of water to stay hydrated with.
The weekend was an all around amazing adventure…. even after the fiasco of a trip we had getting to our destination. On our way to the campground, maybe 40 minutes into the drive, we got a flat tire on our trailer. Luckily we were close enough to Santa Maria so that we could come back into town and fix the flat tire to continue on with our drive. Then, when we got to Bakersfield there was crazy traffic because a car had caught on fire on the side of the road. Once we got through that, we thought the bad luck was over, but we were far from done. We got just over an hour and a half away when BAM we got another flat tire! So we had to change that tire for the spare on the side of the freeway in the Bakersfield heat and could only pray that we could make it the rest of the way without any troubles. We finally arrived to the campground after an eight hour drive which should have only taken 3-4 hours. Overall though, I enjoyed the weekend besides the ride there, and recommend taking a trip to visit the beautiful Sequoia National Park.
