This past weekend, the second round of the Super Cross season took place at the Giants stadium in San Francisco, CA. All day during qualifying it was raining very heavily. As race time got closer, the rain began to stop. Right as the races actually started, the rain picked up again and the racers not only had to battle the other riders, but now the muddy track as well. The ruts on the track were very, very deep and the mud on the track was extremely thick and heavy.
There were a few riders that were expected to do better than others based on the similar conditions of tracks where they grew up and learned to ride. However, those riders did not succeed like predicted. Instead, Chase Sexton surprised fans by coming out with the win, and Eli Tomac came in second place after taking last year’s Moto Cross and Super Moto Cross seasons off due to an injury. Justin Garcia and Aaron Plessinger were expected to be at the top, but they both ended up not even placing in the top 5. Even the Champion of all 3 seasons last year only placed in the 9th spot. This just goes to show that riding Super Cross is an unpredictable crazy thing.
