This year, it was a fight between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Fransisco 49ners for the Super Bowl title. The first quarter was pretty uneventful, neither team scored any points. During the second quarter, the 49ners kicker, Jake Moody, kicked a 55 – yard field goal which gave them a 3-0 lead. That kick set the record for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history. In the last half of the second quarter, they scored a touchdown, bringing the score to 10-0. Right before halftime, Chiefs kicker, Harrison Butler kicked a 28 – yard field goal.
The Super Bowl halftime show was preformed by Usher. He also brought H.E.R., Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Will.i.am., Lil Jon, and Jermaine Dupri on stage. He sang many of his hit songs like “Love in this club”, “My Boo”, “U Got it Bad”, and “Yeah!”. Fans really enjoyed his performance.
When the third quarter came around, no points were scored until the last half. Butker broke Moody’s record and kicked a 57 – yard field goal, making the score 10-6 with the niners still leading. There were just under three minutes left of the third quarter when Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to put the Chiefs in the lead with a score of 13-10. Now, in the fourth quarter, quarterback, Brock Purdy, on the niners, threw a 6 – yard touchdown pass. Moody missed the extra point, so the 49ners were left with a 16-13 lead. Butler kicked another field goal to tie up the score. Moody redeemed himself for his last missed kick, and kicked another field goal giving the niners a 19-16 lead. Mahomes however, was able to take the Chiefs down the field to allow a successful attempt at another field goal to tie up the score. The 49ners were not able to take back the lead causing the game to go into overtime.
Moody led the niners to score first by kicking a field goal, giving them the lead of 22-19. Once the Chiefs got ahold of the ball, they managed to get down to the 10 – yard line with 13 seconds left. Mahomes threw a 1 – yard pass to Hardman and they scored the winning touchdown. The final score of the Super Bowl game ended at Chiefs 25, and 49ners 22.
