Austin Forkner is a 25 year old dirt bike rider from Richards, Missouri. His love for racing began when he was just 5 years old. He would ride around the backyard of his house when he was just starting out. In Forkners’ first year of racing, he won the Show-Me Fall series.
The love of racing is in his blood. His father was a motocross rider, and his mother was a barrel racer. Austin won his first AMA title at Loretta’s, and after that he was offered to join the Kawasaki Team Green amateur factory team as a supported rider. During his debut Supercross season, he managed to get 2 podiums alongside seasoned veterans.
This last weekend at a race in Arlington Texas, Forker was doing good leading the 250 Main Event, until the worst thing possible happened. He was going through the rhythm section when he came up short on a table top jump and bounced onto the next obstacle. This launched him off his bike and then off the track. When he landed, he hit his back on the ground and his head whipped back and forth. He was on the ground, motionless for quite some time. The first aid team was able to get a neck brace on him, and get him walked over to the med cart to talk him back for evaluation. The Kawasaki Team released his injury report saying that he has “a spine and scapula injury”.
Not much else has been said on when he should be recovered or return to racing again. The racing community has come together to wis him the best of luck and send their prayers to him. We hope for a speedy recovery for Austin and cannot wait to see him back on the bike.
