This last weekend, the SuperCross race was held at the Daytona Speedway. The veteran racer, Eli Tomac has been racing professionally since 2010. He is known for being an aggressive and successful rider. Currently, he is ranked in the second place position on the all-time SX win list. Tomac has 51 wins and he is behind Jeremy McGrath with 72 wins. Jett Lawrence is in his rookie season of 450s. He Won the Motocross season, undefeated. As well as winning the SuperMotoCross title and $1,000,000. Jett is currently the points leader for the 2024 SX season.
Eli Tomac has won the Daytona round of SuperCross the most times. He has 7 total wins, and his streak at the end of last season was 5 Daytona wins in a row. Many people went into the weekend expecting him to pull out another win. But his season last year was cut short due to an injury that took him almost a full year to recover from, so he was a little out of practice this season. Eli held a good position in the top 3 for the whole race. He was battling with Chase Sexton and Jett Lawrence.
Sexton started out in 1st place, Tomac in 2nd, and Lawrence in 3rd. Jett made an incredible double pass on Chase and Eli to gain the lead. Tomac and Sexton continued to battle and tried their best to come back to the top. With around 5 minutes left, Eli Tomac’s bike started smoking. That did not stop him from trying to keep his winning streak going. He was still able to pass Chase and take over the 2nd place position. He was just not able to catch Jett. When Jett took the lead, he ran with it and held almost a 10 second lead the entire race. Lawrence earned his third win this season and Tomac’s Daytona streak was ended.
