I hate to say it but I’m a prime example of this, I usually don’t get enough sleep. Whether it’s me working late, my insomnia, me being full of energy, or whenever I lose track of time… I can just never find the right amount. But how I personally see it? If your body needs it, give it. Make room for it, sacrifice some time for your own personal health. Sometimes after school, I just take a nap before work because I know that if I didn’t, I would start to feel it halfway through my shift. I’ll even feel it when I start to workout, lack of sleep decreases your energy level as well. Can even make you fatigued, feel sick, and much more. But here lately? I’ve been struggling with getting enough sleep, which is why I worked towards setting time aside my daily activities, set a certain timer, and just sleep. Sleep I feel is the best reward any person could have, which I felt the opposite as a kid. Every kid wants to stay up and eat their popcorn and M&Ms and watch their favorite TV show. But as you get older? That all changes.
You start having more responsibilities, less time for yourself… it sucks but that’s the way life is. You’ll get a job, start doing more chores, etc… just things that involve a lot of energy into them. You’ll probably have more homework from school, it’ll be quite a mess of balancing your sleep, energy levels, and downtime for yourself. That’s why you have to find a system for yourself, like I have. It’s important… if you don’t see that it is now, then you definitely will later on down the road. Trust me when I say this, you’ll miss not sleeping early the night before.
