Ken Roczen is a 30 year old racer from Germany. Ken rides on the Suzuki team. He has 2 Pro AMA Supercross championship wins, 20 overall SX wins, and 21 overall MX wins. Roczen is a strong, competitive rider who has pushed through many injuries and surgeries to continue battling with the top riders.
This last weekend, on the 20th of April, the race was held in Nashville, TN. Roczen was riding very well in second place for the Main Event. A few laps in, he entered the whoops section and began to get a bit squirrelly. His bike then started to smoke a lot, making a blind spot for the riders behind him. He rode it out almost completely through the whoops, but right at the end, his shock blew up and Roczen was bucked over the front handle bars. As he was going down, he tried to land on his feet but his ankle and knee slammed on the ground and he fell flat. Ken was able to walk off the track with some people helping him, and he was taken off the track in the medic cart.
Roczen announced that he will need to sit out for the remaining 3 rounds of the SX season. He posted on Instagram, “After further evaluation it looks like I will be out for a little bit. It turns out I broke my tib plateau, my foot and my toe. No surgery is required as of right now but we are still gathering some information and further evaluation.” Ken is hoping to heal back to normal as quick as he can, and fans are all hoping to see his return to the 2024 MX season.
