This past Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a bill that could lead to a ban on TikTok. Passing this bill was meant for a foreign aid package in support of Israel and Ukraine. The bill was approved by the House on Saturday, then passed by the Senate on Tuesday.
The app first began raising concerns back in 2020, and now the office is determined to shut it down. They are giving the owner a little over 9 months to sell the app to a new owner or it will be banned entirely in the United States. TikTok’s CEO, Shou Chew is telling many users across America, “Rest assured: we aren’t going anywhere”. Chew is confident he will be able to sell the app in time, keeping fans across the US hopeful about keeping TikTok.
