A Catholic Advocacy group called, “Catholic Answers” began implementing a chat bot AI priest that gives their followers/users answers about faith as quick as they ask. But the news here? He’s gone rouge. Done lost his marbles. He’s being saying some really weird things to users, some things that have become a cause of concern for Catholic Answers. Some of the answers he’s given is him claiming that he’s, “real”. And when the user began to question Father Justin further, the AI responded, “Yes sir, I am as real as the faith we share”. Which obviously, this can be for a cause of concern. Many users have reported even weirder responses that Father Justin has has said, which one of them being that, “They can baptize babies in gatorade”. I mean… wow. That’s quite the interesting phrase.
Since these responses have been documented, people began contacting the creators at Catholic Answers regarding the weird behavior with their AI. The company had decided to basically demote Father Justin, which you can see from the clothing change. If you look up photos before and after the demotion, you’ll see the different outfits he had worn. Before he was fitted in a priests outfit while after? If you can tell from the photo above, well… he’s now in prfessional attire. Not only this, but the AI lost his title as “Father”. So instead of him being “Father Justin”, he is now referred to as “Justin”. Quite interesting. This situation is very similar to other AI related softwares, ones that have developed over the years.
