I’d never think that people’s voices would be used in a piano roll like software, Vocaloid, or also know as and pronounced in Japan as ボーカロイド ( Bōkaroido ), is a singing voice synthesizer software product developed and released by Yamaha Corporation in 2004. This software has the use to synthesize by typing in lyrics or a synchronized melody. These instruments, also known as voice banks, have real voice actors and singers behind them. These products were originally sold in a physical box as a CD, before being moved to an online digital purchase. These voice banks were carried along with a character in front, a very popular voice bank that everyone can recognize goes by the name Hatsune Miku (She was originally produced by Crypton Future Media), voiced by Saki Fujita. Hatsune Miku, the mascot for the voice bank, has multiple versions of her voice bank, such as, Original, Dark, Light, Vivid, Sweet, Soft, Solid, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Whisper, leaving with a variety of different tones you can sound out with her. Unfortunately, a few years back, Yamaha Corporation didn’t have anymore ideas with what to do for Hatsune Mikus voice bank, and gave her back to her originally creators. Hopefully, Yamaha Corporation can soon get her back again when they are legally allowed to, and start making new content with her soon.
