In 2014 a man named Scott Cawthon decided to release a new video game that looked a lot like spending the night at a Chuck E. Cheese. It was a horror game that immediately made the headlines with how great it was. How tricky it was and how eerie it was. When I was about 8 years old, I’d watch YouTube all these different people play this game. One of the most popular YouTubers to play Five Nights at Freddy’s went by the name of Markiplier. His videos skyrocketed with how popular the game was getting. The objective of this game is to..well.. survive five nights at Freddy’s. You play as a security guard hired to watch on the cameras at a Freddy Fazbears Pizzeria, but something isn’t quite right for as the animatronics move around at night and their goal is to come into your room and kill you. You have a limited power source which makes it all the more trickier having to save your battery power. Once 6 am hits you win, but there is more days right after that and it only gets harder.
The impact this game has had on internet society is crazy to me. And it is still popular even 10 years later.
