Music is something you can’t live without. Everywhere I go, I see people wearing headphones, ear pods, or listening to speakers. Music is like a painting, much like the *Mona Lisa*. When I listen to music, I can hear every single instrument in the background—the guitar, piano, and more. I have five songs in mind that give off a “painting” vibe. Their presence is beautiful—not in a weird way, but you get the point.
“The Less I Know The Better” – Tame Impala**
*The Less I Know The Better* was a song recommended by my dear friend, and the plot of the song was relatable. The moment the song started, I could hear the guitar and electric piano overlapping. As I listened, I noticed the lead vocalist’s voice changes towards the end, especially when he says “Well, goodbye,” which gives the song a dreamlike quality.
“We Are the People” – Empire of the Sun (Arsenio Manila)**
*We Are the People* was another song recommended by a friend. As soon as the song begins, you instantly hear the guitar. The vibe of the song feels nostalgic, even though I had just started listening to it. Much like *The Less I Know The Better*, there’s a point in the middle where the vocals shift and create an unreal, otherworldly feeling. To me, some people just listen to music without thinking too much about its meaning or emotional depth, and that’s pretty normal. But I tend to listen until I fully understand the meaning. It’s like dissecting an animal.
“505” – Arctic Monkeys**
*505* doesn’t need much explanation because of the beat. The way the guitar and drums overlap, with the drums hitting the cymbals and toms, is perfect.
“R U Mine?” – Arctic Monkeys**
*R U Mine?* is similar to *505* in that the beat is perfect. This time, however, the lyrics and the sound are a little more refined. The tone of the lead vocalist’s voice is deeper and feels more intense. The way his voice follows the guitar is just right. I know it’s common knowledge that the singer’s voice follows the beat, but for me, the guitar solos are what make Arctic Monkeys’ songs stand out.
“Something About You” – Eyedress, Dent May
*Something About You* is a love song, at least to my understanding, and I think it’s cute. The song brings me joy—not because of the lyrics, but because of the beat. It’s the rhythm that makes every part of the song come alive for me.
