Every person in the world that has TikTok knew about the TikTok ban. Let’s get started with the basic information about TikTok. Before TikTok was a thing it was called Musical.ly. Musical.ly became a thing in April of 2014. Then in August 2, 2018 Musical.ly became TikTok. They had the same features like trending music, lip singing, and interacting with other people. TikTok was something that every teenager had downloaded in their phone early on. Many people had quit their jobs to do TikTok full time because TikTok would pay people that had millions of views in their videos. Other people also promoted and gained customers over night over one video for their business. It also became a really big thing during quarantine 2020 where people from all around the world would show what they did to pass the time while we were all not allowed to go outside because of Covid-19. When Covid was over and we were allowed to go outside a lot of people that made friends during quarantine started to meet in person and do TikTok’s together. Every year after that people would always say a certain date that TikTok was getting banned and it was never true. Until around November people started saying that TikTok was getting banned January 19th 2025. Of course no one believed it until the news started talking about the TikTok ban. The day came closer and closer and it actually became true. Before that lot’s of people would make their last TikTok’s and say to follow their instagrams to be updated with videos on instagram or YouTube. January 18th 2025 at 8:00 p.m TikTok was officially banned in the U.S.but it was not for long. January 19th TikTok officially opened up again and everyone was so happy about it coming back because we didn’t know what we would had done without the app.
