What do you think of when you hear “Beautiful Architecture” “Beautiful Buildings, Structures”? Some might think of some popular historical monuments, for example the Eiffel Tower, the Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Mount Rushmore, etc. Why is this important? Well, back in the 1800s-1900s, houses, stores, public areas like Churches, and more appeared to be of higher quality, but why is it not like that now? Should we start to do that again? Well it might not be as easy as just doing it and here is why.
The Cost
One of the main reason why returning to beautiful architecture would be problematic is the cost that these beautiful structures. Considering the current economic position that we currently find ourselves in, bringing back beautiful architecture would cause issues in our budget and it would be better used by proving other services to solve the many other problems in this country. Which is one of the reasons the modern buildings look bland, they are prioritizing the efficiency of getting homes out rather that the visual appeal.
The Efficiency
People nowadays care more on having a home that it looking to pretty, as many people would rather get a home quickly as opposed to waiting a couple of years to have a well built, visually appealing home and efficient home. The sad reality is that even this cannot be done for everyone because there are so many people in the world, and that means high demand of houses. Houses take up space, which is only finite, so having a nice and big house is nothing more than a mere fantasy for many, which is why many settle for a small apartment. Since billons of people want a place to live, homes and apartments are on high demand and this results in quickly built, not so swell looking, and possibly poorly built apartments and houses.
Conclusion
To answer the question of “Should we bring back Beautiful Architecture?”, the answer would be no. Not only would this cause more problems, but prioritizing looks for efficiency, which would most likely be the sacrifice made to make this a reality, would be a horrible idea. It would more likely cost more, take more time, more resources, and many people tend to want fast, and those building it tend to want it built quickly and easily. Although maybe in a future we could see the return of the beautifully built structures that were once built in the past.
