I went camping on April 18th, the day spring break started. I had never actually been camping before in my entire life, so I was really excited for the experience. We took my dad’s camping trailer. My dad, on the other hand, has been camping numerous times for his job, so he knew what he was doing. We headed to Sun Outdoors in Paso Robles. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly the rugged, out in the wilderness type of camping I had imagined. It was more like an RV resort, but it was still camping in its own way, and I wasn’t going to complain. When we arrived, it was already pitch black, since we didn’t get there until after 9 pm. All we did that night was hook the trailer up to the electricity and plumbing, and unload all of our luggage from my dad’s truck into the trailer. Sleeping that first night was rough. The trailer next to us was having a loud party that went on late into the night, making it nearly impossible to get any rest. The next morning, I explored the entire resort. It was split into two levels. The upper level, where we were staying, and a lower level you could reach by going down a hill. The lower level had more RV sites and the clubhouse. The clubhouse was pretty impressive, it had an arcade, a pool, a hot tub, a restaurant, and a full schedule of activities throughout the day. On our level, we also had access to a large pool, a hot tub, and a couple of showers. While I was there, I went on a few solo hikes along the trails near the resort. The hikes were incredible, they were peaceful, scenic, and exactly what I needed. Being able to get away, breathe fresh air, and just exist in nature, even in a resort setting, was incredibly relaxing. It turned out to be exactly the kind of break I had been needing, and it ended up being a really enjoyable and memorable experience.
