In the generation we live in now, social media has become a big part of all of our lives. Apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat help us stay connected, share fun moments, and is a way we can express ourselves. Although it can be fun and useful, it can also affect our mental health in both positive and negative ways. On the positive side, social media can help others feel connected with others down the road or people far away. It can also be a good way to spread awareness on mental health and provide or receive support from online communities. However, spending as much time as people do now can be damaging. Such as, seeing perfect pictures of others (that could possibly be edited) could hurt ones self-esteem, and cause anxiety and sadness. As well as it cause cause people to loose sleep if they are online late at night, which could affect your mood and focus throughout the day. And in some situations cyber-bulling may come into play which can seriously cause harm to the mental health of a person. As a person who is actively on social media daily it is clear that it has become a lot especially on the younger generations, and affects all of us in some ways. Yes social media can be fun but it is important to remember to take breaks and spend time with your loved ones in real life, and talk to someone if anything is ever going on. Having a good balance between protecting your mental-well being and spending time one social media could positively affect your attitude in your daily life.
