What are isopods?
Isopods are a type of crustaceans, which are a relative of diverse crabs, shrimp, and lobsters. Mainly isopods originated from deep evolutionary of million years ago. Mainly coming from 300 years ago in the Carboniferous period with about more than 10,000 species worldwide.
Some fun facts to include is that isopods are visibly funny enough joked on nicknamed ‘Roly Poly bugs’ due to their similar appearance as a Roly poly. Strangely enough the deep-sea isopod which is called the Bathynomus is one of the largest isopod species. Soaring up to twenty inches in length. Which is found around the Indo0Pacific and western Atlantic Ocean with the giant isopod able to dwell 7,000 feet deep. A couple final facts are that isopods are one of the cleaning crew creatures who clean up the sea. With them consisting in their diets dead organic material hitting the floor, since they have small metabolisms, they could just eat one meal and not eat so much.
