Fiesta Mexicana
November 21, 2019
Fiesta Mexicana was a great event for the whole family. With vibrant colors, festive decorations and talented performers, Fiesta Mexicana was an exciting event for all students and their families. Students from Righetti put on an amazing show. Sofia González and Rhiena Oliveira were two of the dancers. González says, “The performance of all the groups brings together the stunning and colorful culture that is Mexico.” There were a variety of different styles of folklorico that provided insight of the beautiful culture of Mexico. Oliveira predicted that they would leave the audience with smiles and enlightement, and she was absolutely correct! The groups involved were Allan Hancock College, Righetti High School, Corazón de la Costa and the Righetti Marimba Band. The talented singers interpreted the exotic musical genres of cumbis, ranchera, and balada. The origins of this type of dance derive from Campeche, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, and Jalisco. Taking place in the historical Ethel Pope Auditorium, audiences were surrounded by culture. The event took place on November 13th and 14th and clearly celebrated the beauty of Mexican culture through the charm of music and dance. Righetti singers and dancers made us proud at the Fiesta Mexicana!
