The Zodiac Killer Found (Supposedly)

David Beas, Writer

One of America’s most prolific serial killers has been found 51 years later. The Zodiac Killer terrorized communities in the San Francisco area in the late 1960’s. The serial murderer killed five people in Northern California in 1968 and 1969, taunting investigators with a series of cryptic notes. Police say at least five people are believed to have been murdered by the Zodiac, although the killer claimed at least 37 victims since 1966 in his letters. The Zodiac would write notes, often threatening to kill, in a cryptogram composed of bizarre series of letters and symbols. The killer, who has never been identified, signed the letters with a circle divided by a cross. He would write ″This is the Zodiac speaking.″A team of investigators calling themselves The Case Breakers say they know the identity of the Zodiac Killer, but law enforcement is refuting their claim.

The Case Breakers group released a 7 page report October 6th that said Gary Francis Poste was “a very strong suspect” in 10 serial murders that occurred between 1962 and 1970, citing new physical and forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts. The report released Wednesday spells out the findings of an unofficial 10-year investigation, including photographs that were developed in the man’s darkroom and filed court affidavits that the group said would back up their accusations. Although it is not official and with 100% proof, it is fun to think that his identity has been found.
