Dia de los Muertos Rally

Calista Freeland and Ana Espinoza

The Dia de los Muertes Rally, sponsored by Latinos Unidos, was a beautiful event that brought the dances of Jalisco and Chiapas to Ernest Righetti High School. Colorful and elaborate performances by the Ballet Folkorico and Marimba Band, a dance battle with volunteers from the audience, a face painting competition, and a final dance with rally attendees created an authentic and jovial atmosphere that embraced Mexican culture. The rally also featured a moment of silence for those who have passed, particularly those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, the rally was an amazing experience. Dancer Ana Espinoza said in a statement about the event “The rally was pretty fun and the crowd was very hyped which gave me a lot of energy.” If you would like to see our beautiful ballet folklorico dancers perform again, their next performance is Fiesta Mexicana on November 12th and 13th @ 7pm at Ethel Pope Auditorium (Santa Maria High School). Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. (Ana Espinoza can provide you with tickets in advance or see Mr. Gabaldon for more information)
