Raising Cane’s Opening in Santa Maria

Maya Pettiford, Writer

The first ever Raising Cane’s was Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 in Baton Rouge, La., they now have more than 340 restaurants in 23 states with multiple new restaurants under construction. Yesterday, March 8th, in Santa Maria another Raising Cane’s location opened. The restaurant is apart of the the Enos Ranch Business Center, located at 485 Betteravia Road. Raising Cane’s will be next to other businesses in the Enos Ranch development planning to open this year, like Chipotle, Mattress Firm, Juice It Up!, Dutch Bros Coffee, Boot Barn and Guitar Center.

The restaurant hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. The ceremony included free T-shirts for the first 100 customers, and at 8 a.m., the 20 raffle winners were announced. Entrants had to be 13 or older and present to win. They gave away “free Cane’s for a year” to 20 customers as part of its grand opening. They also had a DJ on-site to pump up the crowd. They are best known for their chicken fingers, and according to their website, the company emphasizes a limited menu that helps them produce high quality food that’s served quickly. The chain also earned recognition by Thrillist as the “Best Chicken Tenders” in America back in 2020
