Gigantism is a rare genetic disorder that occurs when there is an excessive production of growth hormone in childhood. It has to occur before puberty when the growth plate is fused. The excessive amount of growth hormone is usually caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland which is the part of the brain in charge of growth. As for treatment, Many treatments for gigantism receive criticism and are not accepted as ideal. Various treatments involving surgery and drugs have been used to treat gigantism.
