Guadalupe Passes Taxes to Finance The Construction of A New School in The Community

Between the elementary and junior high schools, Guadalupe Union School District Superintendent says the number of portable classrooms in the Guadelupe Union District is very high.

“There’s a real crunch with crowding at our schools,” Emilio Handal says, “We have expanding transitional kindergarten requirements from the state. We will be adding a new grade, but we don’t have the classrooms or parking space to have the staff needed to help our students.”

An interest survey found that roughly 80 percent of voters support new bond measures, pushing the board to place Measures V and W on the Nov. 8 ballot. Additional property taxes would fund the construction of a new junior high school because initial state allocations failed to improve upon the existing classes.
