Just imagine yourself waking up way before the sunrises just to go to school, struggling to stay awake in class, and trying to learn while half of your brain is shut down.
Why are students expected to perform their best in the morning when their brains aren’t fully contemplating the subject in their first period?
The truth is, most teenagers’ bodies are usually not awake in the mornings, if you were to wake up way later than how most schools start it would be against yourself: not having the ability to focus, learn and succeed.
Many students struggle a lot trying to stay focused in the early morning classes because they are simply too tired! If they lack sleep it can lead to grades lowering, difficulty paying attention and even falling asleep in class! Your teacher might send you to the office or even get mad at you.
It can cause academic troubles, not getting enough sleep can affect your health, it can give you sleep problems: this which can cause stress, mood swings that might cause you to lash out on close friends, teachers and parental figures. After this, quiltiness will occur and it will make you feel bad about being rude to others. It will ruin you mentally and physically.
Just by starting school a little bit later in the day it would make positive impact on students behavior. When students are well-rested and go in and out of classroom. Schoolsshould consider making this change to vetter support their students needs so they would have to succeed in the far future. After all, how are students expected to reach their full potential if they are constantly tired?
