My Favorite Comfort Food Recipe

Maya Pettiford, Writer

Growing up, whenever it was cold and rainy outside my family would make broccoli casserole. It easily became one of favorite comfort foods, and it always makes me feels at home.  Now whenever i’m sad or need a little extra pick me up I will ask my parents to make it. I think it is something everyone needs to try, so I want to share the recipe with all you.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
  • In a 2 quart casserole dish, mix together broccoli, soup, cheese, mayonnaise, eggs, garlic salt, pepper, seasoned salt, and lemon juice. Sprinkle crushed crackers over top and dot with remaining 2 tablespoons butter.
  • Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 45 minutes, until heated through and browned on top.
  • *Optional* My Family and I always serve this dish over rice and it really adds to it. I hope everyone who tries this really loves it as much as I do!
